Director of Music Ministry reports to the Incumbent.
Salary and vacation, based on qualifications and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A strong commitment to Christ, to the vision and mission of St. Peter's, and to the ministry of music in the church as outlined in the Parish's Music Ministry Guiding Principles
• Strong leadership skills
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work with groups and individual musicians in achieving a blended music experience (e.g. a variety of musical styles and expressions)
• Demonstrated ability to direct vocal leaders and congregation in singing
• Piano and organ competency
• A commitment to high standards of musical offering and musicianship
• Ability to manage time and resources well
• Ability to work in a cordial and cooperative manner
• Ability to receive suggestions constructively
• A willingness to join the congregation in worship
• Must comply with Diocesan Vulnerable Persons Policy

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Consistent with: St. Peter's Music Ministry Guiding Principles)

1. Exercise a significant role in planning the music for worship, according to the Revised Common Lectionary (in consultation with the Incumbent)
2. Recruit, coach, and direct vocal and instrumental leadership
• Identify and implement opportunities for music ministry as they arise (from within the congregation and wider community)
3. Work closely with the Parish Administrative Assistant, primarily in communicating necessary music information for the preparation of bulletins
4. Ensure that musical accompaniment is provided for worship (including weddings, funerals, and other special worship occasions); arrange alternate musicians if/when necessary
5. Actively participate as a member in Worship Planning Team
6. Oversee the care and maintenance of music instruments and materials
7. Seek out and participate in workshops and training which support our commitment to blended music (funding available upon request and approval)
8. Submit a budget request to Finance Committee by end of November for the following year, to include all expenses related to music
9. Purchase music and music supplies according to the approved budget
10. Ensure that music resources are managed in full accordance with Canadian and international copyright law by administering required copyright licensing programs
